SCADA systems provide the structure for fine wine

Our Client

Pernod Ricard Winemakers, Marlborough Winery, New Zealand

Project Scope

If ever we've seen the need for a SCADA system (supervisory control and data acquisition) it was at Pernod Ricard Winemakers' winemaking facility in Marlborough. The winery had independent machines with separate interfaces and control systems. The winemaking process was controlled by a series of local operator panels.

The CR Automation Solution

We set about linking and monitoring every process, factoring in the long production lifecycle required to make wine.

A SCADA system application was built to provide a 'one-seat' wine management and peripheral plant performance monitoring system.

The results

During the winemaking process, Pernod Ricard Winemakers' have access to the history of every batch, from every vintage, through every process. The immediate benefit was the removal of a number of onerous tasks and simplification for increased agility.

Overall, the SCADA system gave the client greater intelligence of data, the ability to diagnose faults and troubleshoot problems.
